Efectos del aceite de maíz sobre la mucosa gástrica de equinos con úlcera gástrica inducida

Resumen

el síndrome de úlcera gástrica equina (SUGE) tiene naturaleza multifactorial e involucra la mucosa escamosa y glandular. La terapéutica implica varias estrategias y periodos largos de medicación. Objetivo: evaluar los efectos del aceite de maíz (AM) en equinos con úlcera gástrica inducida, y describir los mecanismos de reparación de la mucosa. Métodos: quince equinos fueron utilizados en tres grupos. Para la inducción fue utilizado confinamiento y fenilbutazona. Posterior a la evaluación gastroscópica y exámenes de laboratorio los animales fueron tratados así: el grupo control (grupo I) recibió sucralfato (SA), mientras que se administró AM en dosis de 70-90 mL/100Kg (grupos II y III respectivamente). Fueron realizadas gastroscopias, recolección de contenido gástrico y biopsia de zona glandular para análisis de prostaglandina E2 (PGE2), pH, parámetros antioxidantes y oxidantes. Resultados: lesiones gástricas de intensidad leve a moderada fueron inducidas en las áreas glandular y no glandular de la mucosa. Los principales hallazgos encontrados fueron el restablecimiento de los parámetros antioxidantes, la inhibición de la enzima oxidante mieloperoxidasa (MPO) y leve alteración en la PGE2. Conclusión: el AM solo tuvo efecto terapéutico en el área glandular, similar a los efectos del SA.
