In 1942, when María Concepción Loperena School started in the colonial city of Valledupar, the teacher Heriberto Castañeda, distinguished and charismatic man, built together with Rafael Escalona and his friends a relationship of trust and recognition which awoke in their young spirits admiration and respect. The inevitable relocation of the teacher in 1943, moved the inspiration of the novel composer how reflected his feelings on the song "El Profe Castañeda", the first on the list of legendary songs.
