Keywords:

This paper intends to redefine what a critical approach in the formation in languages may involve, how it is located in various approaches (functional / interactionist / reproductive / critical) to literacy, what are its implications in language education. The author's aim is to keep discussion open in order to give the long expected and required step towards a more critical discourse from the point of view of language teachers and researchers in the field of language learning and pedagogy.
