Resumen

En este ensayo se vuelve sobre el tradicional debate acerca de las similitudes y diferencias comparativas de los regímenes esclavistas que se desarrollaron en diferentes colonias y naciones de América desde el siglo XVI a finales del siglo XIX. Se centra en lo que actualmente sabemos acerca de la integración económica y social de estos afroamericanos en sus respectivas sociedades y economías, y hace especial referencia a las diferentes experiencias de los modelos latinoamericano y anglosajón.

Biografía del autor/a

Herbert S. Klein, Universidad de Columbia, Universidad Stanford

Licenciado, Magíster y Doctor en Historia de la Universidad de Chicago, con una especialización en Historia y Antropología. En esta misma institución enseñó Historia Latinoamericana de 1962 a 1969. Fue profesor en la Universidad de Columbia de 1969 al 2005. En el 2005 fue nombrado profesor de historia y director del Centro de Estudios Latinoamericanos de la Universidad de Stanford, donde permaneció hasta el 2011. Actualmente es profesor emérito de historia en la Universidad de Columbia e Investigador y curador latinoamericano en el Instituto Hoover, en la Universidad Stanford.
