Abstract

the paper shows the place of Mateo Alemán's novel in the picaresque genre and the Guzman's
place respect the rogue figure. In exploring mainly the book II of the first part, it is stated Guzmán de
Alfarache is the book that best represents the genre, since his protagonist reproduces more perfectly the
rouge figure, integrated by a lot of aspects and features, some of them missing in other famous rouges like
Lazarillo de Tormes
