Abstract

The objective of this work is to provide an integrative view of moral judgment and evaluation, in which rationality and emotional disposition define our moral response thanks to their constant interaction. To do this, in the first place, the sentimental position of morality will be reconstructed from the perspective of the author Jesse Prinz. Then, a critique of this sentimental model will be introduced, stating that it is not possible to have an adequate understanding of the phenomenon of moral judgment if the influence of rationality is left aside; such a faculty has more than an instrumental role. Next, the theoretical perspective of the philosopher Joshua May will be presented, which conforms to the integrative model that is defended here. Finally, some ideas regarding the importance of descriptive studies for the construction of normative ethics will be presented.
