Resumen

El desarrollo del talento deportivo es un proceso complejo que implica la interacción de factores físicos, psicológicos, sociológicos y ambientales, pero, hasta la fecha, relativamente pocos estudios se han hecho en cuanto a las formas en que los deportistas de élite alcanzan un desarrollo en el deporte, siendo el logro de la excelencia en el rendimiento deportivo uno de los principales objetivos de los clubes y federaciones locales y nacionales de deportes, que invierten importantes recursos en programas orientados al Desarrollo del Talento Deportivo. Algunos teóricos han propuestos diferentes Modelos de Desarrollo Deportivo con el fin de asegurar la formación deportiva desde las perspectivas de rendimiento, formación deportiva a largo plazo, hábitos de vida, entre otras. El objetivo predominante de este tipo de programas es identificar, capacitar, apoyar y retener a los jóvenes con potencial de rendimiento durante un período prolongado, con la esperanza de que, con el tiempo, algunos puedan llegar a alcanzar un nivel de élite. En esta revisión se abordan los principales Modelos del Desarrollo Deportivo, en procura de su comprensión. Se analizan algunos de sus supuestos básicos, limitaciones e implicaciones prácticas en los procesos deportivos, así como la identificación de las diferentes partes de sus estructuras, los objetivos que pretenden, las consecuencias de su funcionamiento y las variables que pueden afectar dicho proceso (Factores que condicionantes).
