Kinesio Taping. History, techniques and potential applications

The bandage has been used since ancient times to treat various types of injuries and illnesses; At present it is used in surgery, postoperative, sports activities, treatments to prevent and rehabilitate injuries, etc. Its features have changed over time, as have its applications. At present we can count on elastic bandages, rigid bandages and neuromuscular or kinesio taping bandages, the latter used for multiple treatments, greatly surpassing traditional bandages, since, unlike others, it acts on five physiological systems: skin, fascia, muscle, joints and circulatory / lymphatic system. It can be used in treatments for patients with pain, muscle imbalance, circulatory and lymphatic problems, ligament and tendon injuries, fascial adhesions and scars, pathological movement patterns, neurological conditions, proprioception and stability problems.
