Abstract

Problem: currently, the basic activities of human movement are studied individually, ignoring that the associations generated between them have significant changes in improving health and other factors of human behavior. Objective: to review the existing and historically relevant scientific literature on the beginnings, development and evolution of the 24-Hour Activity Cycle (24-HAC) paradigm and its relationship with the compositional analysis method (CoDA). Method: a search for studies related to the subject was carried out in the PubMed, Google Scholar, Microsoft Scholar and Epistemonikos databases, limiting the search range between 2011 and 2021, finding 25 articles, which set the dynamics of the 24-HAC. as a research model in the components of physical activity, sedentary behavior and sleep. Results: the studies suggest the rearrangement of time as a determining factor to improve aspects related to health; at the same time, they propose novel and substantial contributions aimed at improving and giving recommendations at the public health level. Conclusions: the 24-HAC is a new and useful method that has evolved rapidly in the last decade, which offers, associated with the CoDA, more consistent and consistent data compared to the analysis of the variables in the behavior of human movement.
