LA EDICIÓN DIGITAL DE TESIS DOCTORALES: HACIA LA RESOLUCIÓN DE LOS PROBLEMAS DE ACCESIBILIDAD.

Abstract

Las tesis doctorales despiertan un creciente interés. Por tanto, los especialistas en biblioteconomía y documentación trabajan para crear instrumentos de control bibliográfico de las mismas y hacerlas más accesibles. En este proceso, las bibliotecas digitales han llevado a cabo un salto cualitativo. Entre los factores principales que han contribuido a la aparición de un número creciente de estas bibliotecas digitales, mencionaremos el desarrollo de la cooperación internacional impulsada por la UNESCO y la existencia de una red internacional de bibliotecas digitales, como la Network Digital Library of theses and Dissertations (NDLTD). Como resultado de esto, el problema endémico de accesibilidad de las tesis doctorales está en vías de solución. Esto lleva a la autora del articulo a sugerir que el concepto de "literatura gris " aplicado a las tesis doctorales está empezando a quedarse obsoleto. El artículo ofrece ana serie de directrices para el proceso de planificación requerido para la creación de bibliotecas digitales.

The Digital Edition of Doctoral Theses: towards the Solution of the Problems  of Availability. 

Abstract

Doctoral theses are a source of increasing interest. Therefore, specialists in Library Science and Documentation are working to create instruments for their bibliographic control and to make the more available. In this process, digital libraries have brought about a qualitative step farther. Among the main factors contributing to the appearance of an increasing number of these digital libraries should be mentioned the development of international cooperation fostered by the UNESCO and the existence of an international net of digital libraries, such as the Network Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD). As a result, the endemic problem of availability of doctoral theses is starting to be solved. This leads the author of article to suggest that the concept of "grey literature" applied to doctoral theses is on the point of becoming obsolete. The article affers a series of guidelines for the process of planning required for the creation of digital libraries.
