LA PRODUCCIÓN CIENTÍFICA LATINOAMERICANA Y LA CIENCIA MUNDIAL: UNA REVISIÓN BIBLIOGRÁFICA (1989-2003)

Con el objetivo de tener una visión general del tratamiento bibliográfico que se ha venido dando a la producción científica latinoamericana y su aporte a la ciencia mundial, se comienza haciendo un análisis del estado de las revistas científicas de la región, tanto aquellas consideradas de corriente principal de la ciencia, como las que no. Se señalan algunas de las iniciativas y proyectos que han surgido para lograr una mayor visibilidad internacional y un mayor reconocimiento a nivel nacional de dichas publicaciones. Se mencionan algunos de los factores socio-económicos que están ligados con la producción científica de cada país y cual es la relación existente entre este tipo de indicadores y la producción. Por último, se trata el estado de la producción dentro de los principales campos científicos.
