Abstract

Reproduction and feeding of Epilachna mexicana occurre in the plant Cestrum nocturnum; this plant produ-ces alkaloids and steroidal sapogenins. To understand the role of the plant secondary metabolites in thiscoevolution, we carried out a study to establish a possible metabolism of these substances by insect. Inaddition, a steroidal sapogenin was isolated and identified
