Abstract

The Regional Musical Values research group, attached to the Alma Mater Faculty of Arts, carried out an in-depth study between 2004 and 2005 called The bands of music in Antioquia, dynamics and current reality. The research, financed by the Directorate for the Promotion of Culture of the Secretariat for Education and Culture of Antioquia and by the Committee for the Development of Research of the CODI University and the Faculty of Arts, collects aspects of first importance related with the existence of these groups, in which thousands of children and young people of the Department are currently being formed. The research carried out shows the different ways that gangs adapt and survive or how they disappear in their specific contexts, since the geographical, social, economic, political and administrative conditions determine the process of each group. It is our interest, based on the final report of said research, to offer readers a synthesis around this reality, perhaps the one with the greatest coverage in the field of music and artistic education in the region.
