Sobre la teoría musical

Abstract

We have here a panoramic vision of the development of music and its conceptual framework in the West from its two main sources: mathematics and language. The science of numbers established from Pythagoras the theory of intervals that define the verticality of musical heights, their "spatiality". On the other hand, the metric feet of Greek prosody provide that element that is typical of music: its "temporality". In a Cartesian virtuality of space-time, music and words sing the discourse of science, from the dawn of civilization to the dusk of contemporaneity.
