Abstract

This article explores the place of dance in the avant-gardes remains without being studied in a deep way, and the few studies that are found, are limited to establishing the relationship of these with Diaghilev and his Ballets Russes. Thus, reviewing concepts such as provocation, liberation and autonomy allows us to rescue choreographers and dancers who also made great contributions to the avant-garde and vice versa. Such is the case of Isadora Duncan, Löie Fuller and the Swedish Ballets, among others. All this to reach the conclusion that the aesthetic and conceptual demand that was made to dance at that time, continues to have full validity and validity in the current reflection on the discipline.
