La crítica literaria ha puesto su mirada intensivamente en casi toda obra de Gabriel García Márquez. Y esa exhaustiva lupa colocada sobre muchas novelas del premio Nobel de Literatura del año 1982 ha dado como fruto trabajos de análisis brillantes como Nueve asedios a García Márquez de Mario Benedetti y otros académicos latinoamericanos, Cien años de soledad: una interpretación de Josefina Ludmer, El mundo mítico de Gabriel García Márquez de Carmen Arnau, García Márquez: historia de un deicidio de Mario Vargas Llosa, Breve estudio de la novelística de García Márquez de Vicenzo Bollettino, García Márquez y la problemática de la novela de Ángel Rama y Mario Vargas Llosa, Gabriel García Márquez. Mito y realidad de América de Jaime Mejía Duque y Gabriel García Márquez. La línea, el círculo y las metamorfosis del mito de Michael Palencia-Roth. Estos son, apenas, algunos trabajos sobresalientes del centenar de libros, artículos y notas dedicados a la obra del escritor colombiano. Sin embargo, así como abundan textos críticos sobre sus novelas, solo una acapara la atención de la crítica: Cien años de soledad es la más estudiada de su universo narrativo. Por ello comenzamos hablando de “casi toda la obra” porque, en comparación con la historia de Aureliano Buendía y su familia, no corrió con la misma fortuna Crónica de una muerte anunciada, texto que hoy nos ocupa.
