El ensayo de David Jiménez Panesso sobre la relación entre poesía y canon, escrito hace diez años, toca dos asuntos literarios que hoy parecen estar en crisis. Por un lado, la crítica académica insiste cada vez más en la necesidad de cuestionar el concepto de canon literario, ya que este supone unos fundamentos de selección de obras representativas casi siempre ajenos a autoridades estéticas, o bien es asumido como expresión del poder político, de clase o de género. De otro lado, la poesía —que en gran parte del siglo xx figuró como el órgano expresivo preferido por los escritores colombianos— en los últimos años surge como un brote aislado, leído por unos cuantos, quizá por pasatiempo. En todo caso, estos escasos ámbitos poéticos no ambicionan otra cosa que descubrir íntimos fortines en medio del huracán consumista de la industria cultural.
