This article explores the implications of the use of metafiction, intertextuality and historiographic metafiction on Silvia Galvis' detective novel La mujer que sabía demasiado. This analysis demonstrates how this novel exposes the traditional mechanisms of historical, reality and fictional representation through the repetitive combination of intertextual references and self-reflexive commentaries with an ample imitation of articles and documents that have always been considered as sources of news, worldwide events and historical record, in order to question preconceived notions of truth.
