Visions of nation in the Colombian literature of the 19th century: three aesthetic approaches

This article will review the influences of national and political projects in the poetic works of three authors of Colombian literature at the end of the 19th century: Candelario Obeso, Julio Flórez and José Asunción Silva. This review will help to understand the ideological perspectives of this Colombian poets and their points of view in different topics like the institutional modernization, the capitalism, and the so-called “evil of the end of the century” (the spiritual decline), those who face nineteenth century society with the arrival of Modernity.
