Three aspects of Colombian children and youth literature are approached in this article: (1) the concept of children literature as an authentic expression of society, and also as a work of formative mediation which circulates in real communicative spheres, and as inter and multidiscipline that is built through reading, from the receptive discursive and ideological processes; (2) the problems of periodization faced by the idea of temporal and spatial series of authors and works departing from the consideration of literature as cultural form; and (3) the place that theses literary expressions have had in the constitution of the canon of Colombian Literature, linked to the conceptions of children and youth literatures in Colombian social and human sciences and cultural studies.
