RESUMEN La dramaturga chilena Isadora Aguirre sitúa sus obras en tres siglos diferentes, los de la historia del país: Los papeleros (1963) presenta un cuadro social en Chile contemporáneo; Lautaro (1982) re-escribe la historia de la epopeya del pueblo mapuche en su lucha contra el conquistador español en los albores del siglo XVII; Retablo de Yumbel (1987) re-escribe la historia de San Sebastián y el emperador Diocleciano enfrentándola con el asesinato de 19 dirigentes chilenos durante el gobierno de Pinochet y Diálogos de fin de siglo (1988) re-escribe el acontecimiento político más importante de Chile a fines del siglo XIX: el suicidio del presidente Juan Manuel Balmaceda en la sede de la Embajada Argentina el 19 de septiembre de 1891. A través de este recorrido histórico, Isadora Aguirre experimenta con la caracterización de los personajes femeninos y los representa en las posibles identidades que puede asumir la mujer en la sociedad de todas las épocas. ABSTRACT This Chilean drama writer Isadora Aguirre locates her work in differentcenturies, those of the history of her own country. In Los papeleros (1963) presents a social drama placed in 20th c.; Lautaro (1982) re-writes the epic history of the Mapuche people in their stuggle against the Spanish conqueror at the beginning of the 17th c.; in Retablo de Yumbel (1987) re-writes the history of Saint Sebastian and teh emperor Diocletian paralleling the assassination of 19 Chilean opposing leaders during Pinochet's goverment, and in Diálogos de fin de siglo (1988) re-writes the most important political event at the end of 19th c.; the suicide of president Juan Manuel Balmaceda at the Artentinean Embassy. Through this historicaljourney, Aguirre experiments with the representation of women and characterizes them in the possible identities a woman can assume in the society of all times.Downloads
