In Brazilian press, the decadent literature was represented by Alcindo Guanabara. He was a writer, a journalist, a doctor and a politician. He wrote the column “Teias de Aranha” in the newspapers A Gazeta da Tarde and Novidades, both published in Rio de Janeiro (1886-1888). In his articles, he used to show the readers his lack of interest in life and his enthusiasm for death. In reading his articles, one could investigate how decadent literature was received for Brazilian press.
