Analysis of the Intonation of Interrogative Utterances in Eastern Bolivian Spanish

In this paper, we aim to describe and analyse the intonation of interrogative utterances produced with different discursive values. For this, we acoustically studied 68 WhatsApp audio messages from informants in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, sent from teenagers to parents. The informants were teenagers and young adults, of both genders, aged between 14 and 26, from belonging to the middle and upper classes of Bolivia. Although the utterances have different pragmatic objectives —transactional and interactional—, we sustain that the interrogative statements analysed in the corpus of this research present melodic contour with ascending nucleus.
