This paper shows some results of the research project “Anomie in the Crime Novel of the Twentieth Century in Colombia (1990-2005)”, which objective is to characterize the crime novel genre in Colombia from the general concept of social anomie. Although the work refers to the case of Colombian literature, anomie concept makes posible to determine elements that help to understand this kind of novel in the entire continent. Overcoming traditional principles of this genre –enlightened by modernity—, as well as the existence of differing degree of anomie in the novel and the specificity of historical context make this kind of novel and this analysis concept a privileged field of interdisciplinary studies and comparative literature.
