Herniation of buccal fat pad, report of a clinical case in a 5 year old patient

Herniation of buccal fat pad is a syndrome first described in 1997 by Matarasso and it is characterized by a displacement of this adipose tissue towards the cavity located between the cheek and the mandibular body. This article aims to show the case of a 5-year-old boy with a herniation in the buccal fat pad causing a facial disfigurement not related with trauma or surgery. Diagnosis processes and corrective treatment are discussed and they are not previously described for young patients.
