Abstract

Mastitis continues to be the most important cause of economic losses for the dairy industry worldwide. Traditional programs have used an approach that has not achieved sustainable improvements in milk quality. A new approach supported by an active surveillance system of preventive alerts, with a process of continuous improvement and a preventive approach to mastitis and supported by computer programs, was considered crucial to achieve this. The model works with a set of guidelines and technical notes of consultation with a focus of seasonal implementation and monitoring to find better ways to minimize mastitis at each stage of lactation.
