Abstract

Based on concepts on moral economy and primary sources, the exercise of the monopoly of violence in the provinces of Potosí is analyzed. Highlights include how moral values and principles are activated in episodic moments involving strategies to give morals to one's own, taking morale away from enemies. Moral economy is
explained by forms of pressure with balancing and regulating power functions.
