Abstract

The epistemological and methodological assessment on the ontological assumptions of the logical/empiricist theories and the hermeneutics theories allows explain the structural tension on the scientific vision of the knowledge in social sciences. Far from thinking that the tension must be resolved or eliminated in search of an only and true method, it is proposing the consideration of the existence of a conceptual ontology. That consideration intends to serve as a meta-analysis of the epistemological constitution of the scientific theories. A conceptual ontology as analysis tool takes into account two key moments in the construction of a theory: 1) the systematic unit that structures the theory, its terms, concepts and assumptions and 2) the relation that the epistemic agent has with that systematic unit when it elaborates the theory, that is to say, when explains the phenomenon. Both moments explain the genesis of the object as given and built at the same time.
