Abstract

The education of coaches in the Antioquia-Colombia context has mainly focused on professional aspects aimed at sports performance, leaving aside the widely recognized social function in the world that is also part of these coaching processes. Some theorists have highlighted the task of the coach, which is not limited to the realization of a connection between athlete and method, but also to the interconnections between people and life in general. This review addresses some basic concepts implicit in the education of sports coaches, such as sport training beyond a rationalist vision, the coach and his role in coaching processes, the coaching of coaches and its connotations in educational programs, and finally two examples of curricular structures that will feed the reader's vision of the education of sports coaches.
