EstudiosAbstract
In the present work, the parasitological, hematological and histopathological behavior caused by Trypanosoma evansi in mice was studied. Parasitaemia and blood values were monitored daily: hemoglobin, hematocrit, leukocyte count and differential. In certain periods of time, the animals were sacrificed to measure the splenic and liver indices and to take biopsies of different organs and tissues. The results obtained show a direct correlation between the increase in anemia, with parasitaemia and the splenic index. The histopathological study revealed hyperplasia in the spleen and liver, indicating a congestive process without a focus of necrosis and many cells loaded with hemosiderin, while the other organs presented normal histology. There was also an absence of trypomastigotes and amastigotes at the tissue level.
