Abstract

After a discussion of the concepts of universalism, nationalism, multiculturalism and globality in the framework of a postmodern and postcolonial world, different "local" situations are addressed in the field of the museum, the city, the exhibition and individual artistic practices. , to raise the need for a new concept: that of interculturality. Some local situations that should be studied are: the Guggenheim (Bilbao) global museum model and its relationships with local and territorial situations; the peripheral biennials and the imposition of curatorial models inscribed in the "new internationalism", as well as the artistic practices of a new artist paradigm, "the artist as ethnographer", and their dialogues with the specificity of the place
