Abstract

Composer José María Berenger was invited to the Saturday meeting "Ciencia en Bicicleta", by Parque Explora, with the support of the Museo de Antioquia and Eafit. Berenger left the article The absent listening for Artes, the Magazine. In this he tells us about his personal relationship with the composition; explains how bringing imagined music to life is an act of will, and composing is making a wish for a particular way of listening come true. He proposes us to try to perceive the characteristics of sound, appreciate the subtle aspects and try to overcome the search for values ​​that are not audible: iconic values ​​and genealogies as if they were the most significant and interesting characteristics of music. The spectators have evolved; now they are able to make room for other sound qualities of an electronic nature.
