Investment analysis in the corn and soybean production from 2015 to 2016, economic viability in the municipality of Dourados-MS

Abstract

The objective of this work is to analyze the economic viability in the production of soybean and corn in three properties of different sizes (small, medium and large) of the municipality of Dourados/MS. All the costs of the three stages of the production of each crop (soil preparation, cultivation and harvesting) were collected, obtaining the total cost per hectare (CPH), besides considering the average productivity to measure the value of the revenue. Thus, the data were submitted to calculation of Net Present Value (NPV) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR), in order to verify the feasibility of each system analyzed. The smallholdings showed the best results in the two analyzed crops, in which the soybean production had a IRR and NPV of 23.85% and R $ 1,776.66, respectively, with a CPH of R $ 2,982.16. The corn production presented a IRR of 12.21% and NPV of R $ 737.55, in addition to CPH of R $ 1,806.90. Also, the average property presented viability in the two productions, the soybean yield presented IRR of 10.02%; NPV of R $ 858.08, per hectare and, CPH of R $ 2,982.16; corn production had IRR, NPV, CPH of: 0.71%; R $ 42.36; R $ 2,594.65, respectively. On the other hand, the large-size property presented viability, only in the soybean production, with bb of 4.56% and NPV of R $ 369.12 and CPH of R $ 3,477.69. While the production of corn presented IRR and NPV of: -2.86% and R $ 374.02, respectively, in addition to CPH of R $ 2,937.55, exceeding revenue, less freight, per hectare. These results can serve as parameters for studies concerning the cost and viability of soybean and corn in Mato Grosso do Sul.
