Abstract

Influence of sport in the anthropometric characteristics of the female plant footprint

The present work was aimed at determining the influence of sport in the anthropometric characteristics of the female plant footprint, from the comparison of the footprint of women athletes participating in the XVIII National Sports Games and sedentary women in the city of Cali, Colombia . Each woman was made a fotopodograma to determine the type of foot, also taking anthropometric measurements.

The results obtained concerning the type of foot showed statistically significant differences between the two populations, although in both there was a higher prevalence of cavus foot . it was evident a low number of subjects with footprints in range of normality. Other findings show differences between foot type on the right side and left side. The percentage of individuals with asymmetric feet in the two populations was close to 40%. Comparing the length and wide of the footprint, significant differences was found between athletes and sedentary but not related with the kind of sport practice neither between the right foot and left foot.
