Abstract: Although the journal Mito (1955-1962) was considerably appreciated in Colombia for its undeniable importance around the spread of literary, political and social culture, and about the debates related to the fight for freedom, it is also undeniable that such recognition has surpassed the limities of ecuanimity. Through an excessive apology of the journal and its founders, Jorge Gaitán Durán, Eduardo Cote Lamus y Hernando Valencia Goelkel, the role and importance of publications, intellectuals and artists previous to the journal from Bogotá have been systematically forgotten. Mito is unsurpassed only if we deny the existence of Jorge Zalamea and his biweekly journal Crítica.
Key words: Colombian journals; Journal Mito; Zalamea, Jorge; Crítica; center and margins.
