From the Correspondence of José María Vargas Vila: Friendship and Diplomacy in the Letter of July 14, 1908 to Rubén Darío

The aim of this paper is to trace the fraternal, intellectual and diplomatic connection between José María Vargas Vila (1860-1933) and Rubén Darío (1867-1916) via the letter of July 14, 1908 that the Colombian thinker wrote him to the Nicaraguan poet when both were in Spain. First is made the analysis of their friendship following the book Rubén Darío (1917) and other reference texts; then the letter is transcribed and get its meaning as an object of study in the field of Latin American intellectual history.
