Focus and Scope
Estudios de Filosofía is the journal published by the Institute of Philosophy at the Universidad de Antioquia. It is an international peer-reviewed, open-access, electronic journal and adheres to the policy of double-blind peer review. Since its foundation in 1990, Estudios de Filosofía has been devoted to fostering the creation and dissemination of research in all fields of philosophy. The journal accepts papers in Spanish and English.
Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to Estudios de Filosofía are peer-reviewed according to the following procedure:
Initial review: The editor-in-chief evaluates each manuscript to determine if its topic and content is suitable for publication in Estudios de Filosofía. Manuscripts that do not meet the minimum criteria are returned to the authors within one week of receipt.
Peer review: Each manuscript that has been accepted for review by the editor is blindly reviewed by at least two anonymous external reviewers. Reviewers are required to manifest any impediment or conflict that could affect the impartial evaluation. Reviewers are asked to evaluate the manuscript according to its originality, the argumentative quality, the novelty of its thesis, as well as the use of original sources and updated literature.
Recommendation: Based on the reviewers' comments, the editor makes a final decision and communicates it to the authors. The final decision can be "Accepted", "Accepted, subject with minor revisions", "Accepted, subject with major revisions", and "Rejected". A revised manuscript should be re-submitted within the next three months. It will usually be returned to the original reviewers after resubmission. The evaluation process normally takes between 3 and 4 months.
There is currently no publishing or article processing charge (APC).
