Michel Maffesoli is a critic of Modernity, his critique is done in the name of a Post-Modern perspective, which differs from other variants of this type of critique, in that it is clearly optimistic, vitalistic and affirmative. The concepts of Reason, History and Progress are questioned and they are replaced by those of Sensible Reason, Destiny and Community.
