Retroperitoneal teratomas in children have an incidence of 3% of all pediatric tumors. However, in our country there is no record that supports this information, no consensus on the diagnosis, management and prognosis. We report a case of a newborn in the city of Bucaramanga, Colombia, diagnosed and treated surgically. We review the literature, considering general aspects, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, histological features and management, in order to guide the physician in his practice to consider this diagnostic possibility.
