Abstract

Adequate drug prescription is a matter of ever increasing importance due to its medical, social, economic, and legal implications. The basic clinical principles for attaining rational prescription are analyzed and the decisions and considerations leading to this medical action are reviewed. Any good prescription must start with a precise diagnosis and a thorough knowledge of the disease and finishes with the clear writing of the drug names and the pertinent instructions; It also encompasses a follow- up of the patients.
