Abstract

Introduction: Perinatal emergencies, timely responses improve health outcomes. Clinical simulation allows students to apply theoretical knowledge in a safe environment prior to real clinical practice.

Objective: To determine the perception of the high-fidelity clinical simulation scenario during the training of midwives in perinatal emergencies.

Methods: A descriptive study was conducted with 60 students who evaluated their perception of a high-fidelity simulation scenario focused on perinatal emergency care.
Results: A high level of satisfaction was observed, as well as a significant improvement in the students' academic performance in both areas. 77% of the surveyed students considered that the simulation faithfully reflected reality. Furthermore, the analysis of their comments revealed that for them, teamwork is a fundamental element for improving collaboration and communication.

Conclusions: The implementation of the interdisciplinary Perinatal Emergency scenario is considered an effective teaching method for acquiring and strengthening clinical competencies and skills such as communication and teamwork.
Discussion: Clinical simulation enhances students’ technical and collaborative skills, aligning with approaches that suggest learning emerges when individuals are challenged, thereby reinforcing simulation as a valuable strategy for complex clinical contexts.
