Abstract

At present the world faces an acute environmental crisis generated by the over- explotation of resources and the discharge of huge amounts of polluted substances. The economic model used, the overpopulation in poor and developing countries, the unplayable external debt, and the armed conflicts determine/influence and worsen the situation. There are a number of environmental risks affecting health, some traditional that have already been controlled by most countries with reasonable success. And the so-called modern that are less known and thus require in-depth study to minimize sound effects. Thus, an interdisciplinary approach is anticipated as the only way to deal with environmental risks. To end with, the hypothesis that this issue will cope with economics, population movements and conflict development, is raised.
