Abstract

Burns are a major cause of traumatic injury that induces both local and systemic inflammation. Initial resuscitation, early management of haemodynamic problems and respiratory failure are probably the most important intervention to increase the survival; however, complementary therapy, such as infection control, prophylactic care, wound management, nutrition, analgesia and patient comfort, are essential in improving outcome.
