A finite element model was developed to simulate the butt joint, with a 3.2 mm diameter electrode E 7018, of two plates of low carbon and low alloy steel. Also, the influence on the temperature distribution was studied considering temperature–dependent physical properties (thermal conductivity and specific heat).
