El empleo de campos magnéticos para la generación de frío se está abriendo paso como una alternativa muy eficiente dentro de las técnicas de refrigeración. Esta tecnología se fundamenta en el cambio de entropía que experimentan algunos materiales magnéticos o superconductores cuando se someten a campos magnéticos fuertes. El trabajo se presenta en dos partes: en la primera, se describe el fenómeno magnetocalórico, se compara el ciclo de refrigeración convencional con el ciclo de refrigeración magnética, se presentan las ventajas y desventajas de esta técnica y por último, se describen las aplicaciones más relevantes. En la segunda parte se presentará un análisis termodinámico de un refrigerador magnético.Downloads
