Uno de los textos medievales españoles más ambivalentes y contradictorios quizá sea el Libro de buen amor, la obra del arcipreste de Hita, Juan Ruiz. El propio Arcipreste, de hecho, señala desde los preliminares de su obra la aparente doble paradoja: “que los cuerpos alegre e a las almas preste” (Ruiz, 1992: 13) que sus lectores habrán de encontrar.
