This article studies the narrative work of the writer Blanca Isaza collected in her book Cuentos de la montaña (1919-1926), with special emphasis on the stories published in magazines and newspapers between 1920 and 1921. These stories are approached from the aesthetics of melodrama, the pamphlet and, in general, the popular narrative of the 19th century, thus exploring an alternative current of the Colombian short story in the first decades of the 20th century.
