Political activity and public action for women has made significant contributions, most recently, to the definition of the “must be” of the Policy Cicle of Public Policies for Gender Equity (PPEG) in Colombia. In order to know these advantages, this article, which is part of the research report “Women and Political Participation”, it makes an analysis, based on documentary sources, about PPEG in Colombia, and presents some experiences of women’s participation in the local scenario. We intend to establish, first, how national and local PPEG have came from real social processes of legitimation and how they have contributed to the redefinition of gender relations. And secondly, we want to search how those Public Policies can help constructing contexts of national and local democratic governance
