Social Work and the historical-critical perspective

Abstract

This work shows the contributions of the marxist tradition, ancled on the historical-critical perspective from the historical and dialetical materialism to the latin-american Social Work, specially from the experiences in Brazil and Colombia. This is a big contribution to the theoretical reflections of the profesion since it bases the discussion about the meaning of the critical perspective without summarize it to the marxism, arguing why it’s urgent to built a profesional praxis ancled to the marxist criticism. At the same time, it desmitifies the marxism reaching it to the reality of the profesion and the population in wich it’s built the profesional praxis. The careful reading of this book makes posible understand the contemporanity and the pertinence of the historical-critical perspective to the latin-american Social Work and, even, the worldwide Social Work. Paying attetion to the need of recognize the political dimension of the profesion that must analyze the joint in front of a social-capitalist estructure that set big limits to the profesional praxis.
