This article analyzes the most relevant results of a research project conducted at a higher education institution, which was duly implemented and validated along with its resulting product: a program with a particular methodology for virtual education complementing the legal classes in academic programs where laws are not the central object of study, taking advantage of the students’ independent work prior to face-to-face instruction.
The purpose of this analysis is the extrapolate the learning obtained during this project, in order to propose a model that can serve as a reference for the development of similar projects with the two-fold intention of research and development, relying on a mixed methodological design that enables the achievement of research objectives and the development of products or programs to be implemented in virtual environments supplied with the right scientific foundations and full correspondence and interrelation between educational requirements and technological possibilities in the virtual world. Using constructivism as a conceptual foundation, the article explores the requirements to develop virtual resources structured inside virtual learning environments, as well as the conditions of applicability within the context of virtual education.
